Revive your outdoor floors with Polar Patio Paint

Renovating old and faded outdoor floor areas can transform your garden, however, we know that it can be pricey. Painting is not just a quick fix but can be a long-term solution if the correct products are used.

Polar Patio Paint is a cost-effective way to revive and brighten outdoor floors! The water-based, non-toxic formula provides a durable, weather-resistant, and smooth finish, which is environmentally friendly and safe for children and pets.

Additionally, if you want to wash your outside floor area at any point in the future once painted, Polar Patio Paint has the ability to be jet washed without the worry of losing any of the original colour. Enabling you to keep that refreshed and clean look on the surface for years to come.

Preparing The Patio Surface For Painting

When it comes to painting your outside area, the key to a long-lasting, smooth finish is in the preparation. Therefore, we highly recommend that you jet wash or clean the surface first to remove any contaminants.

For optimal results, we also advise you use a primer. This will ensure any ingrained dirt is removed and provides a smooth, bare surface for when the paint is applied. Polar Acid Etch primer is ideal, as it creates a durable layer on concrete or stone surfaces, providing superior adhesion for future paint coatings. It also increases surface abrasion, and therefore the ability to withstand the wear and tear caused by repetitive traffic, knocks and scuffs. In general, it will just extend the life of your patio!

Before applying the acid etch, you need to sweep the surface to remove the top layer of dust or dirt (this can be done at the jet-washing stage). Once you have applied the acid etch and washed it off with water, leave the surface until it is completely dry.

How To Apply Patio Floor Paint patio-paint

Once the surface is completely dry and clean, you are ready to apply the patio paint.

  1. Shake well before use, and using either a brush, roller, or airless sprayer apply in thin layers. Please ensure you apply in dry conditions at a minimum temperature of 10°C.
  2. Leave the paint to dry thoroughly before applying a second coat.
  3. Apply 2-3 coats, depending on the surface area.
  4. Once you have finished painting, allow 3-4 hours for the surface to become fully dry and weather resistant. Please take into consideration that in colder conditions drying time will be longer.

Key things to remember:

  • Our 5 Litre tin will cover 55㎡.

How long will patio paint last?

By prepping the surface with Polar Acid Etch Primer prior to painting, you are adding to the longevity of the surface; with the primer helping to seal the surface ready for the paint. Polar patio paint is specially formulated to be UV and fade-resistant, so no need to worry about the sun fading the colour. All-in-all if you have prepped the surface correctly and applied 2-3 coats of paint for maximum durability, you have considerably extended the life of your patio surface!
