Our direct to rust metal paint may seem like magic – taking metal surfaces from rusty to resplendent in a matter of minutes. But the reality is, it’s really not that exciting.
Here at Polar, unfortunately, we’re not magicians. We’re just a reliable and reputable paint manufacturer with a fair few year of experience in the paint industry. And our direct to rust paint is just a paint that’s been specifically formulated to be applied directly to rust.
No magic. No secret ingredients. No mind-boggling science.
Whether it’s painted onto a ferrous or non-ferrous metal, indoors or outdoors, here’s everything you need to know about the simple way in which it works.
The technicalities behind direct to rust paint
Minimal preparation
Our direct to rust spray paint does exactly what it says on the tin. It can be applied directly onto a rusty metal surface, with negligible preparation required.
To ensure the best results, you may need to remove any loose rust using a wire brush. Plus, it’s a good idea to get rid of any dust, grime, grease, oils etc. – by gently abrading the surface where required and wiping it clean using a microfibre cloth dampened with white spirit.
But other than that, no other prep work is required. Just wait for it to fully dry and start spraying.
No primer necessary
A quick and convenient option.
Direct to rust paint is an all-in-one solution. It’s specially formulated to act as a primer, undercoat and topcoat. Which means – even if you’re treating a heavily rusted metal – there’s no need to prime the surface beforehand or waste time applying multiple different products.
At the risk of repeating ourselves, it does exactly what it says on the tin.
It can be applied directly onto a rusty metal surface, achieving optimum adhesion and a smooth, flawless finish – without having to worry about adding extra layers in between.
Excellent coverage
Regardless of which colour you choose and whether you opt for a gloss, satin or matt spray paint, just 2-3 light coats are typically all that’s required to completely cover the rust – concealing any imperfections and discolouration and, essentially, hiding it away from sight.
Each coat takes approximately 15 minutes to dry. Which means, within just one hour, you can transform your metal object – removing all traces of previous rust and corrosion.
You won’t be able to tell it was ever there!
Long-lasting protection
Our direct to rust metal paint may be a quick fix, but its effects are very long-lasting.
Not only does it immediately improve the appearance of rusted metal surfaces, thanks to its durability, the smooth and lustrous finish will be retained for many years.
It also benefits from an anti-corrosion formula which helps to protect against future rust.
How? By bonding to the metal substrate and creating a barrier. This barrier encases and passivates the existing surface rust, whilst also successfully repelling water, moisture and air – preventing these from reaching the metal below. As a result, oxidisation of the metal can no longer occur, and further rust is unable to form.
Trust in the magic of our direct to rust metal paint
The fact is – you don’t really need to concern yourself with how paint for rusted metal works. You just need to know that it does.
Acting as both a primer and protective top coat, and boasting a unique and innovative formula that’s capable of enduring diverse environmental conditions – simply spray a few coats onto your indoor and outdoor metal surfaces and watch the results appear in front of your eyes.
